Having received his B.A. from Tufts University in Boston and his M.D. from Temple University in Philadelphia, Dr. Albenberg continued his southerly descent to Charleston in 1994 to pursue a specialty in Family Medicine. Since residency he has been in private practice locally, focusing on disease prevention and wellness maintenance. Considering himself a premature casualty of a broken system, he retreated from a high volume practice in December, 2002. Out of both hope and desperation, he envisioned and founded Access Healthcare, LLC, South Carolina's first Retail Medicine primary care practice in 2003. He has been Board Certified in Family Medicine since 1997.
Originally from Spartanburg, SC, Susanne graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Management. Conflicted between her passions in the disciplines of business and healthcare, she came to Charleston to pursue her Masters in Health Care Administration from MUSC as it “seemed like a good compromise”. While her contemporaries pursue employment in the ivory tower across the street, Susanne is excited to join the Access Healthcare team “to learn more about the widget of delivering healthcare at its most grassroots and basic level”. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking, getting outdoors to run or play tennis and, of course, she is a huge fan of Clemson football, Go Tigers!
Stacey obtained her BS in finance from Penn State University and her MBA in finance from New York University before pursuing a career in corporate finance. Stacey resided in a reclusive world of cash flow modeling and corporate financial analysis in New York before moving to Access Healthcare in Charleston to both discover her intrapersonal skills as part time receptionist and expand her analytical scope as practice finance manager. Her additional roles include "devils advocate", "voice of reason" and manager of toddler relations, which currently includes a staff of two.
The breath and scope of her job description continues to expand as Zoe takes on the new role of design consultant. And while our new calming "purple room" inspired and named by Zoe, is “not so much" in Zoe's presence, preliminary feedback from our patients does give it that credence during school hours. When she is away from her color palates, Zoe continues to work on proper enunciation of the word “the” without her four front teeth and perfecting the story of how she lost them. While away from the office, she can be found at the “pwayground, at "Margwet's House" or just doing "stings".
Sydney’s role with Access Healthcare has also morphed over the years as she has taken naturally to life at “Daddy’s House”. As the now self-proclaimed “Sicker Marshall” here at AHC, Sydney is in charge of giving stickers to well-behaved children after their visits, albeit in a 3:1 ratio favoring the “house”. Just another example of rising healthcare costs here at AHC. Our corporate accountant says that if she keeps up the good work, we can put her on payroll in 2012. In addition to stickers, Sydney admittedly, has a bit of a “stuff problem” requiring her to be body searched for paper clips, glue-sticks, rubber bands and other office supplies when leaving the office which is a contingency for her ongoing employment.
